The Five People Shaping Your Future

Hey there!
Alright, before we dive in, just a quick reminder that I’m hosting a webinar tomorrow at 4 PM PST / 7 PM EST with Social Media Expert Kristen Jackson. It’s going to be a good one, so don’t miss it. Register here:
Now, on to today’s investment talk.
Okay, now let’s dive in.
I’ve been making my way through The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins, and one topic that really stuck with me was adult friendships.
As adults, we rarely stop to think about who we spend time with and what that means for our own path. Mel points out that most of our friends are either people we’ve known forever or those who happen to be in the same stage of life. If you have kids, you probably met other parents waiting in the pickup line. If you work a 9-to-5, your closest friends might be coworkers who share your schedule.
Making genuine friendships as an adult can be hard, especially when your goals, interests, or lifestyle start to shift.
I’ve talked about this with my wife lately and shared my desire to spend more time with like-minded people. I want conversations that challenge me, stretch my thinking, and spark growth. Sometimes, though, we keep friendships alive simply because we feel obligated or guilty about moving on.
As Mel would say, let them.
Jim Rohn once said, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” That quote hits harder the older I get.
Ask yourself: Are the people around you striving for something bigger? Do they inspire you to grow, or do they hold you back?
It’s okay if you no longer fit with a certain crowd. That realization can be freeing. You already know your goals. You just need to start putting yourself in rooms with people who align with them. You don’t have to cut everyone out of your life, but you do owe it to yourself to be intentional about who you let in.
You might be criticized, judged, or misunderstood. Let them.
Focus on becoming the person you want to be, living the life you actually want, and giving it everything you’ve got.
Til tomorrow,
Ryan
