Get Uncomfortable

Hey there!
Just over a year ago, I decided to take a different path in life, career wise at least. I was wrapping up my last contracting job and had already hired a coach to guide me through multifamily syndication. At the same time, I joined a mastermind full of real estate entrepreneurs.
Up until that point, I had done everything on my own. Safe in my bubble, convinced I had it all figured out. Then I spent nearly $10,000 on a coach I had never met, plus another $5,000 to join the mastermind. It was the first real investment I had made in my own education outside of books.
That was when I made a promise to myself: I would get uncomfortable.
So I started reaching out, one by one, to every member of the mastermind, asking to jump on Zoom. Every call was nerve-wracking. These were seasoned investors and successful business owners. I had been around real estate for years, but I felt like the small fish in the big pond. Truthfully, that is exactly the room you want to be in.
I have always leaned a little shy, so initiating all those conversations was a stretch for me. But I knew if I did not get comfortable being uncomfortable, I would never grow. Growth is only found on the other side of discomfort.
The opportunities that followed proved it. Networking and building relationships opened doors I could not have created alone. Entrepreneurship is a team sport. If you try to go it alone, you hit a ceiling because you only have so much time, energy, and capacity in a day.
Signing up with a coach, joining that mastermind, and putting myself out there on social media (which has been the hardest part) led to massive personal growth and an abundance of opportunity. My coach introduced me to major players in the boutique hotel space, some of whom will now be speaking at our Santorini event. Through the mastermind, I also met the business partner I now work with on building our boutique hotel portfolio.
The lesson is simple: if you want to grow, personally or professionally, you have to do the things that scare you. The things that feel awkward. The things that make you nervous. That is where the breakthroughs and opportunities live.
So here is my question for you: what is one uncomfortable thing you could do today that might open a door tomorrow?
Til tomorrow,
Ryan
