Annual Golf Trip

Hey there!

It’s finally here. Today we head out for our annual golf trip. Same group of guys for the past three years, and something I look forward to all year. This time we’re off to the Okanagan to play Predator Ridge, one of the top courses in British Columbia.

Since leaving my factory job four years ago, I’ve noticed I appreciate trips like this a lot more. Entrepreneurship is rewarding, but the mental grind is real. Being “the guy” in your business, the one everything falls on, takes a toll. One bad decision, one downturn, and everything you’ve built can feel at risk. That pressure is heavy, and stepping away for a few days to reset matters more now than it ever did.

So why did I leave? Why trade a steady $100K salary, full benefits, and a pension for uncertainty and stress? Because I hated the life that came with it. Every day I clocked into the factory, my light dimmed a little more. I couldn’t imagine grinding out another 20 years just to collect a pension.

The truth is, I craved more. Freedom, challenge, and a chance to build something on my own terms. Like most entrepreneurs, I hated authority, and the “leaders” they put in charge didn’t make it any easier.

The moment everything shifted was when my wife looked at me and said, “You need to quit that job.” Just like that, the weight I had been carrying lifted. Her belief gave me the push I needed tofinally leap.

Since then, it has been a roller coaster. Highs that make you feel unstoppable, lows that knock you flat. Someone asked me recently if I ever regretted leaving. My answer? Absolutely fucking not.

Entrepreneurship isn’t easy. It tests every part of who you are. Some days you will want to quit. Don’t. Because building something from the ground up with my wife has been the most exciting chapter of my life. Every challenge, every win, every failure, it all adds up to a life that is mine, not one handed to me.

If you’re reading this and still sitting on the fence, ask yourself: is the life you’re living right now the one you dreamed about? If the answer is no, maybe it’s time to take a hard look at the opportunities waiting for you.

For now, I’ve got 54 holes of golf to get ready for. So I’ll leave you with this:

“Entrepreneurship is choosing to live a few years like most people won’t, so you can spend the rest of your life like most people can’t.”

Have an amazing weekend,

Ryan
